Georgetown is a multi-instrumental Bluebilly Folk Pop band from Pretoria South Africa. Formed in February 2014, the talented Michael de Villiers, Renaldo van Dyk, Rynier Prins and Tiaan Erasmus, have told their stories and shared their rhythms across mainstages, theatres and towns.

With their roots planted in the diverse Southern Africa, Georgetown is a captivating hybrid of the classics and unique local influences. They bring audiences together with the use of a variety of musical instruments during their performances, including acoustic guitar, piano, upright bass, mandolin, harmonica, a washboard and a 1935 suitcase, promising a distinctive and creative sound to contemporary and original folk music.

Georgetown’s first studio EP Banana Jack was released in 2016. In 2018 they released their first full length album called The Dog Show. In 2019 Georgetown receives a SAMA nomination for Best Contemporary Album.

Indierock / Powerpop. Onvindbaar in het woordenboek maar alles behalve betekenisloos. De muziek van Gifter zit vol eye-openers en heldere ingevingen. Catchy gitaarriffs, glorieuze stadionrefreinen en crescendo’s te over. De thema’s dragen bij te ontsnappen aan de dagelijkse sleur en een sprong te wagen in het diepe.

In mei bracht Gifter de nieuwe EP ‘Coming Closer’ uit. Een logisch gevolg op het voorgaande werk maar met complexere songs en meer oog voor detail. Voor de opnamen doken ze opnieuw de Mailmen Studios in met producer Martijn Groeneveld waar ieder stukje tekst en muziek nauwkeurig onder de loep werd genomen. Dit leidde tot vier nieuwe songs over o.a. loslaten, escapisme en sabbaticals.
In 2016 wijzigde de band rigoureus haar formule en maakte door deze zet furore met singles Falling Down (2016) en Speechless (2017). Premières bij The Daily Indie en 3voor12, airplay op talloze radiostations waaronder 3FM, en tv-zender XITE. Ook stond Speechless (2017) meerdere weken op 1 in de landelijke Indie Chart en ver bovenaan de gelijknamige jaarlijst.
