Funk

Time Flies

Time Flies is a true funk band from Amsterdam, with no less than ten band members.

Three vocalists, who efforlessly switch between lead and backing vocals, a three-piece horn section, the funkiest of guitars and keys, and a powerful rhythm section. The repertoire consists of the fattest funk, but they don’t forget about the funk-rock variety. And there’s even room for the occasional soul slow jam. In short, music for lovers of music. You can dance to it, swing to it, even clean your living room to it. One thing you can’t do: sit still to it. Tip: wear comfortable shoes.

Raggmunk

This six-piece is named after a Swedish culinary anomaly, consisting of mashed veg and pancakes. Yes, really. A less than ordinary blend of flavours, to say the least. Just like these young Amsterdammers.

But that’s where the comparison ends. Because we’re not talking about mashing together and deep-frying gooey leftovers here. It’s more like a fresh, yet spicy ratatouille of ambitious talent. The six musicians that form Raggmunk play modern versions of the greatest rock and pop hits from their generation. But above all, a night with Raggmunk is all about having fun on stage. Good old-fashioned fun that always translates to audiences!

The couple has combined their original repertoire, as well as a lot of covers of timeless classics by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Prince, Santana and many more, to create a diverse set. The rhythm-section is in the capable hands of Nienke Overmars (drums) and Sonya Vos (bass). Both are also members of Jesse’s bands The Silverfaces and Jesse & The Muffins.

Andrew Laureth Band

Still a young man, but the talented Brazilian singer, songwriter and composer Andrew Laureth began his professional carreer in music no less than twelve years ago.

He built this carreer quite meticulously. In 2003, his adventure started, with his first band Sixth Command. The next step would be A(L)titude, a Brazilian group that not only toured extensively through Brazil, but crossed the ocean to Europe. After two studio albums, and a very hectic tour schedule, which saw the band play Portugese, British, Italian and Dutch stages, it was time to stand on his own two feet. His solo debut So Much More came out in 2011. In 2014, he worked with American producer Michael Binder, which resulted in the release of his sophomore record Windows Of The Soul. During the accompanying tour, Laureth can not only draw from two albums of original material, but he’s put some great Brazilian classics in his repertoire as well. Andrew Laureth is making big moves towards becoming a big name. You can see this rising star now at The Waterhole!

Whatever

Brothers Jip and Pim Frank founded the band Whatever almost a quarter of a century ago. Their attitude was - and still is - clear and simple: no bullshit, just good old rock ‘n roll. Nothing more, nothing less.

For some time now, the band has expanded to a four-piece. Bass player Jip and drummer Pim are joined by guitar player Symen Verbrugge and singer Roos Drost. The group’s now at full strength. Together, they bring their interpretations of rock ‘n roll from the sixties and seventies. Those were the times that rock ‘n roll really meant something. Songs by icons like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks en Deep Purple have all managed to nestle themselves in the instantly recognizable repertoire of this quartet. Golden oldies, nobody can withstand.

Muck

Jeroen and Bjorn got to know each other at the age of 4 when they sat next to each other on the kindergarten. There was no musical click or what-so-ever. After some years Bjorn chose to play piano and Jeroen started guitar lessons. At the age of 10 they decided to play a song together. Richard Marx – Right here waiting.
This attempt failed miserably because Bjorn played the song in ' C ' and Jeroen in ' G '. Unfortunately both were too young to be able to transpose numbers to a common key, then both went their separate ways.

Twenty years later, they met again. Both of them were now active in bands so they decide to visit some jam sessions together. There is a definite musical click and soon they end up in their first joint band: CAST. As the band CAST quits, they both go further with a new project: MUCK. Some time later a drummer and bassist were added: Sander Wilson (bass) and Ruud de Ligt (drums).

In recent years, the band has been on stage with Erik Mesie (Toontje Lager), Robert Jan Stips (The Nits) and Gerard Ekdom. Small and medium-sized festivals in Central Netherlands have been conquered and the band continues to develop. MUCK was in 2016 the proud winner of The Clash Of The Cover bands and took The people's Choice Award home. In March 2017, MUCK won the play-offs final of Oerrock. During the winter months they have been working hard on writing new songs to finally be able to bring a first album in november 2017!

American Hitmen

From the battlefields in Iraq to the legendary stage of Radio City Music Hall, the American Hitmen have done it all!
Brothers and Marine Corps Combat Veterans, Tim and Dan Cord, founded the band with fellow Marines and musicians in 2005. After serving 4 honorable years and 2 combat tours in Iraq, they decided to leave the Marine Corps to pursue a career in music in 2007. The brothers left the over-saturated Southern California music scene and moved to Utah, where they fell into true harmony with the addition of drummer, Phil Snyder, and bassist, Dave Briggs.

In late 2009, the band was invited to be the first American rock band in 36 years to perform in Vietnam. At the Ho Chi Minh City Hard Rock Café, the American Hitmen made brought a new and unfamiliar sound to the Vietnamese people, performing Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” with none other than Run DMC in front of a sold-out crowd on the night of the Hard Rock grand opening.

In 2013, the band auditioned for and made it through 3 elimination rounds on Season 8 of America’s Got Talent, finishing out their run with a pitch perfect live and televised performance at Radio City Music Hall. With their new found popularity, the band hit the North American tour circuit with a fury! Within the last 3 years, the American Hitmen have performed alongside some of the most internationally recognized musicians, such as Foo Fighters, Living Colour, Black Stone Cherry, the Charlie Daniels Band, Sheryl Crow, 3 Doors Down, Social Distortion and many more!

In 2016, the band toured Europe and the UK once on their own in April, and were invited back for an Armed Forces Entertainment tour in June/July. The band finished out their second tour by performing for 13,000+ active duty military and their families on Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany! In March of 2017, the Hitmen performed for the US military in Egypt, Romania, and Jordan, becoming the first band to ever perform at any of the bases in those countries!

The American Hitmen are definitely becoming the true definition of all things American and Rock ‘n’ Roll!

Mighty Vipers (UK)

The Mighty Vipers are a seven piece from Northern England, who play a mix of ska, reggae, dub, funk, swing and calypso. Their music is aimed squarely at the dancefloor. As Big Cheese Magazine puts it, ‘If your legs aren’t moving then you must be dead’. Think ‘The Cat Empire’ meets ‘The Skatalites’, and throw in a little of ‘The Clash’, and then you’re somewhere close.

The Vipers sing about the grit of modern life with protest optimism, and sweet nothings of love, loss and perseverance. With music that swerves from brass-fuelled stomping swing, to lamenting Caribbean choruses, salsa and more. All underpinned by a solid ska groove, and an onstage frenzy.
In early 2016 the band toured northern Europe for the first time. Trailblazing across Belgium, Netherlands and France to the delight of many new fans. The plan is to go back in Autumn 2017 with a new record, Elemental, released on 1st April 2017.

Memphis Revival, an energetic Soul and Rn'B band from Zeeland knows how to entertain their audience!

The band was born out of a shared love for soul music. Meanwhile a beautiful friendship between the band members is clearly reflecting on their performances. The inspiration comes from the artists like Aretha Franklin, Booker t. Jones and Justin Timberlake, born in Memphis (United States). These artists are the start of a flood of soul music and the contemporary Rn'B. The songs by Memphis Revival are known but not obvious cover songs. Thereby they offer a surprising yet old familiar repertoire.

23:30-03:30 Cover Up - 90's Rock

90's Rock

Cover Up

Powerful, tight and catchy. That’s the motto with which Cover Up gets on stage every single time. These Amsterdammers are used to being the life of the party, and it shows!

Everyone’s favoritve hits from the eighties until now are the cornerstone of their highly accessible set. Particularly, the six-piece have a soft spot for Lenny Kravitz. Always On The Run, Are You Gonna Go My Way and other gems from the workd of this rock-god are obviously represented. But moreover, what to think of tunes by Guns N’ Roses, Kings Of Leon en Maroon 5? The two lead singers Anouk Leijenaar and Romy Laarhoven, with their crystal clear, sweet voices, shine in the spotlights. Drummer Paul de Hoop and bass player Diederik Verzijl keep a tight rhythm and the guitar players Luuk Gerrits and Jeroen van Geel make sure the sound is chesty and groovy. Tonight, you’ll probably lose your voice at some point, singing along with your favorite songs. But it’ll be a small price to pay!
