Fishing nets on the ceiling, bean bags, oil crisis and 'critical' people ... the seventies were certainly not boring ... And that certainly applies to the music! Whether you're disco was or punk: there was always something for you at. Yet it was above all the rock music that most timeless is proven.
The Stereo Types offer music lovers the ability to hear the classic pop and rock once more, old-fashioned ' live '. This formation from North Holland consists of six experienced musicians, who take you on a musical journey through time. The Stereotypes play mainly hits from the seventies, with here and there a touch of sixties and eighties. No boring songs, but party with "Come together", scream along to "Whole lotta Rosie", your feet off the floor with "Denis" or "I want you to want me" and "Somebody to love" ... The Stereotypes have it all!
These four distinguished twenty-somethings started the band Dynamic Gentlemen in the summer of 2013. Because it’s important to have something to look at, the suits of this dashing four-piece are always as tight as their sound.
To perform is to enjoy yourself. This is what shines through in the group. The only thing they don’t take lightly is the music itself. In the writing proces, they constantly look for a balance in tempo, force and subgenres. Even within the songs themselves. They mix rock with influences from funk, pop and even classical music. Lyrically, they deviate from clichés more and more. Their songs used to be about love and heartbreak. Now, they’re not afraid to tackle subjects like loneliness, war and the meaning of life. But this makes their show anything but melancholic. Their combination of good music and showmanship makes their gigs exciting, memorable and extremely energetic.
Fran And Her Men stands for subtle but contagious rock energy.
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana till Anouk and Coldplay, and everything in between. Well-known and surprising pop and rock covers from the seventies, eighties and nineties, mixed effortlessly with the hits from today.
The band is fronted by lead singer Francis Handgraaf. Francis has a preference for rock, especially for artists with raw voices. She joined the group to make her rock heart beat a little faster.
Next Chapter is a tight six-piece professional party band that guarantees an evening of energetic live music.
Partly due to the fact that several band members are multi-instrumentaliststhe band knows to distinguish themselves. The lead singer also plays keys and saxophone and the drums are regularly supplemented with percussion. The energy of the singers splashes of the stage. A performance by Next Chapter means a night-long celebration!
All band members have years of experience in the live band circuit and this shows in their performance! The band offers a very broad repertoire. From old disco Bangers to the hits of today. Rock, pop, funk, dance, you name it, Next Chapter's got it, often processed into refreshing mash-ups and medleys.
Next Chapter knows to lift each party to a higher level. Dance and sing till you can't!
This 27 year old musician hails from Essex, but calls Amsterdam his home. He’s worked on many projects over the years starting from the age of twelve onwards.
Adam Tobit is capable of playing a wide range of styles. His repertoire matches his versatility perfectly. Songs from the fifties to present day are on his rich setlist. As you’d expect from a true prodigy, he’s been singing from the tender age of twelve and playing the guitar professionally from the age of sixteen. And if all that wasn’t enough, he’s also a percussion player, who learned to play drums at a young age. This modern day Renaissance man with many faces!
2Hot2Funk is a collaboration of four local session-musicians, who played together in countless projects in the Amsterdam area and far beyond. With this one, they keep the funklevel high, with plenty of room for classics.
Frontman Gregorio ‘Gregosaurus-Rex’ Rangel is the bass player of the notorious Amsterdam band Mosquito, Venezuelan metal band Laberinto and many other groups. In this 2hot2funk-formation he takes up the role of frontman, singing the lead vocals. Santanico-frontman Marco Toro’s one of the finest drummers you’ll find in Amsterdam. He and Gregorio take care of the rhythm section, Marcos Gomez completes the group on keys and vocals, and the leadguitar will be played by the one and only Pablo Minolli, de ex-guitarplayer in Laberinto, Ali B and Brainpower (amongst others). An eclectic allstar-collective with a great arsenal of material: classic rock, reggae and soul are all laced with some fat funk.
London based, Liza Flume, has been making waves in the UK/ire music scene since packing her bags several years ago. The Australian born, singer/songwriter has landed herself a spot in this year's castlepalooza lineup, and was recently featured on Wonderland Magazine.
With the turn of the new year, Spring 2017 gives birth to a new sound, as Liza steers her direction with an energetic rhythm section to an ever evolving set with her latest EP ’Spain’. Fall, see's her playing a string of intimate solo european performances to put a lovely end to a packed summer with multiple shows around the UK/IRE.
Cloud Cukkoo Land; a world that trembles on impending rhythms where you are surrounded by a cloud of reverberating guitars and sultry vocals.
Cloud Cukkoo debuted on Altersonic (Eurosonic) and they, under the name "JORI", already played on bevrijdingsfestival Den Bosch, Radio Veronica and a sold-out Sugarfactory, where they also won 'Popsport'.
After their debut, they had a successfull living room tour, "The Living Room Sessions" and their first single "Dalliance" is out now: you can listen anywhere.
The four-piece band, from area near Nijmegen, arose around singer/songwriter Jori van Gemert and in addition exists from Roel Trommelen, Dean Rijke and Roel Jans.
A brand new act, but one with plenty of experience. Stillmode, the band that was formed from the remains of pop-rock band KinKobra, is starting anew. They have a fresh sound and are motivated to the teeth, ready to conquer the world. First order of business of the formation, led by frontman Pasacal Molenaar: the catchy single Outside World.
The band worked with the renowed producer Arno Krabman (Within Temptation, Waylon, Niels Geusebroek). The songs have a big dose of Jack White, a pinch of Placebo, a few drops of Prince, but above all the power to nestle itself in your ear and don’t let go. That’s what you call hit potential. If anything, they’re putting in the effort. ‘This band is a serious, even more ambitious one than KinKobra’, says Pascal. ‘We’re going to take it as far as it will go. To conquer the world’, he jokingly claims. ‘But above all, we’re going to play ‘till we drop. Festivals, concerts, and record a bunch of new tracks. There are no boundaries’, At the moment, Stillmode works with Arno Krabman on their debut EP, which will be scheduled for release at the beginning of 2017.
Theo ‘Mosquito’ Tahitu, Albert ‘Buddy’ Lafontaine and Gregorio ‘Gregosaurus Rex’ Rangel will take you on a trip around the world. They incorporate their ‘Tex-Mex’ flavour in an eclectic mix of musical styles from all around the world. And tonight, you can join them on stage!
For this journey you don’t need a ticket to ride, just a whole lotta imagination. Whether Theo, Buddy and Greg take you to Jamaica, Cuba or California, they guarantee party pleasure. With a different guest musician at each gig, you can rest assured that their show will be fresh, original and packed with smiles all over. Enjoy the positive vibes and step on board of the Mosquito Train!
Jesse Koch is no stranger to Amsterdam’s music scene. His first Waterhole-shows are many years back, back when his father had to come along as he was legally not allowed to enter a bar yet, given his age. In the years that followed he built himself a name with coverproject ‘Jesse en de Muffins’, amongst other bands.
By now, Jesse graduated his guitar-studies at the Herman Brood Academie in Utrecht, and currently he is continuing his development even further at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
De muffins have been replaced by ‘Love on the Rocks’, a band in wich the multi-instrumentalist calls in the help of his –just as talented- girlfriend Marleen Hoebe.
Besides these rockcovershows, Jesse is actively working on orginals with ‘The Silverfaces’ and ‘Hound’ (amongst others).
On Jesse’s Rock n’ Roll Jam Night, everybode is more than welcome to sing or play their instrument. They jam in a free style, or guided by covers by timeless classics like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Prince, Santana and many more.
The alternating line-ups of the house-band are always built out of talented musicians from the Amsterdam music scene, and fellow students at the conservatory also know how to find their way to The Waterhole. Come an join, or enjoy the night with high-quality, but spontaneous music!
Karen Didn't Care, is what happened when leadsinger Karen said she "did not care" about how this band would call itself when they first got together. It's the love for funk, original R&B and disco-soul that got this band of young artists together.
Authentic tributes to the ones that championed the club & dance scenes of the late 70's throughout the 80's like Evelyn 'Champagne' King and Jocelyn Brown, will funk you up for sure. If you ain't dancing, they ain't playing!
This singer from Amsterdam is a true diva. On every stage, she shines in the spotlights. And tonight, that stage is The Waterhole, where she performs a soulful show, full of funky and poppy tunes with some of her many musical partners.
But Farida Merville has earned her stripes long ago. Her career in music is a real adventure. At the end of the eighties, she made her debut and many different projects would follow. She worked with a seamingly endless list of great artists, like the late Thé Lau, Samantha Fox, Quazar and many other quintessential nineties acts. As a solo artist, she released a number of records. Her comeback-album Question Mark came out in 2010, on Chique Records. Tonight, she’ll once again be centre stage!
Remember when you last went completely crazy over a band? When you could sing along to every single song until you lost your voice? Isn’t it great when every track on the repertoire is one you know and love?
#trendingtopic is back! this 70’s to 2000’s pop and rock coverband will keep you entertained for hours! You may have seen them before at the Waterhole, but now they’re back with a new singer, Lonneke (and it is not her first time @ the waterhole either!). Expect everything from Kelly Clarkson to Blondie, and from Queens of the Stone Age to Foo Fighters!
This ever-changing formation has funk as a uniting factor. Funky Influence makes sure you can dance all your stress away.
After a long journey along countless jam sessions in the Amsterdam area, this group was born. It stands for steaming funk, soul and R&B. Entertainment value is something these guys take pride in, as well as switching it up regularly. By interacting a great deal with audiences, they achieve maximum energy. They play everything from Sly Stone to James Brown and from Michael Jackson to Prince. Dance music at a very high level. And that, you can feel in your hips!
Put on your best costume and celebrate Haloween in The Waterhole! Not only do we have 2 amazing rockbands on a extra-creepy stage, there will be a costume-contest with prizes for the best outfits.
And to top it all off, we will be open an hour longer due to the winter-time being introduced this night. The doors will not close before 5am (summertime)!
Nineties stadium rock that you’ll rarely hear this good. The Amsterdam coverband Waste takes audiences back to the haydays of Guns N’ Roses, Radiohead and Metallica.
But you’ll find much more on the huge repertoire of this four-piece. U2, The White Stripes, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Lenny Kravitz can also frequently be found on the setlist. The band was founded by a group of friends, who organised a weekly jam session in the rehearsal space of Rock Supplies in Amsterdam. Nowadays, singer / guitarist Ramon van Loon, lead guitarist Onno Postma, bass player Peter van der Linden and drummer Charles Doornbos play regularly in the greater Amsterdam area. The formation reached national success when they reached the final of the renowed Clash of the Coverbands competition.
Soulmate plays well known (and lesser known) pop- and soulhits in its own funky and groovy jacket. We hear you thinking: ' how does that sound? '. View our rehearsal video or visit us on one of our rehearsals on Tuesday evening in zevenhuizen (Zuid holland).
Using our heavy packages in which frequently snippets from different songs are blended together into a medley, we will amaze the audience. Soulmate is professional and does everything to make your night a great success. Our 2-piece horn sections and 2 singers make the party. Soul mate: not just another cover band!
Rikkert's (Hell No)-The Weekend Ain't Over Funky Party JAM
There’s only one way to successfully end the weekend: DON’T. No blue Mondays here. Grab your moonshine and your whine and come party like it’s 1999.
Rick Rosmalen and Bjorna Beijer were born and raised in Amsterdam, so the local music scene knows their faces all so well. Every 3th Tuesday of the month, this couple will be hosting the Waterhole Jam, allowing you to jump the stage and perform what comes to mind!
