Wednesday Rock n' Roll Jam Night

Jesse Koch is no stranger to Amsterdam’s music scene. His first Waterhole-shows are many years back, back when his father had to come along as he was legally not allowed to enter a bar yet, given his age. In the years that followed he built himself a name with coverproject ‘Jesse en de Muffins’, amongst other bands.

By now, Jesse graduated his guitar-studies at the Herman Brood Academie in Utrecht, and currently he is continuing his development even further at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
De muffins have been replaced by ‘Love on the Rocks’, a band in wich the multi-instrumentalist calls in the help of his –just as talented- girlfriend Marleen Hoebe.
Besides these rockcovershows, Jesse is actively working on orginals with ‘The Silverfaces’ and ‘Hound’ (amongst others).

On Jesse’s Rock n’ Roll Jam Night, everybode is more than welcome to sing or play their instrument. They jam in a free style, or guided by covers by timeless classics like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Prince, Santana and many more.

The alternating line-ups of the house-band are always built out of talented musicians from the Amsterdam music scene, and fellow students at the conservatory also know how to find their way to The Waterhole. Come an join, or enjoy the night with high-quality, but spontaneous music!

Besides this impressive technical footwork, he will skillfully jump between playing both electronic and acoustic hand drums, keyboards, 5 string bass, and several different electric and acoustic guitars, all while singing both lead and backing vocals. Playing a wide variety of original compositions and popular cover songs of all styles, Jonny Smokes provides a one of a kind live music experience with something for everyone to enjoy.

Altitude

Still a young man, but the talented Brazilian singer, songwriter and composer Andrew Laureth began his professional carreer in music no less than twelve years ago.

He built this carreer quite meticulously. In 2003, his adventure started, with his first band Sixth Command. The next step would be A(L)titude, a Brazilian group that not only toured extensively through Brazil, but crossed the ocean to Europe. After two studio albums, and a very hectic tour schedule, which saw the band play Portugese, British, Italian and Dutch stages, it was time to stand on his own two feet. His solo debut So Much More came out in 2011. In 2014, he worked with American producer Michael Binder, which resulted in the release of his sophomore record Windows Of The Soul. During the accompanying tour, Laureth can not only draw from two albums of original material, but he’s put some great Brazilian classics in his repertoire as well. Andrew Laureth is making big moves towards becoming a big name. You can see this rising star now at The Waterhole!

23:30-03:30 The Pinheads - 80's-00's Rock

80's-00's Rock

The Pinheads

The 5 band members of The Pinheads have years of experience in the Rockcoverscene. With their previous band Melodramatic (1995-2010), hundreds of venue-sstages were climbed. After a short break of 1.5 year they decided to go full throttle again: The Pinheads were born!

The Pinheads play an almost entirely chronological set of solid rock, from the 70 's through the 80 's and 90 's to the 00 's and contemporary Rock. Classics will absolutely pass by, but the broad taste of the musicians also leaves space for trips: surprises are no exception in the steaming, raw, dirty, rockset.
Because of this unique building the set there is place for Led Zeppelin or Kiss, but also for Foo Fighters or Rammstein, and anything in between.

Pop, Rock

Allen Wrench & the Nuts

Allen Wrench & the Nuts is a trio that brings you a unpolished mix of swinging blues, surprising classics, honest rock and handcrafted original songs, straight from the heart.

The shows are based around enthousiasm, experience and pure love for playing live. They’re not in the least intersted in what would be ‘suitable’ or even ‘hip’. They simply play authentic, crafty tunes, showing an honest love for music in general. Dominik P. Sprenger (guitar and vocals), Ed ten Hoedt (bass and vocals) and Mozes Wolff (drums and vocals) combine blues, jazz and timeless classics in a fantastic way.

Muddy Grease is at the start of an exciting career in music. This five-piece fusion band can compare to the styles of Snarky Puppy, FORQ and Stuff. They write their own music that can't be categorized in one style. They create a tasteful combination of jfusion, funk and world with much use of electronic influences. Muddy Grease are four young dogs with a fascination for grooves and sounds. Screeching solos, interspersed with tasteful, beautiful themes are enhanced by rock-solid rhythm work.

22:15-23:15 Bunch of Bastards - Folkrock

Folkrock

Bunch of Bastards

Bunch of Bastards (BoB) like to think they drink from the same source of inspiration as their heroes Pogues, Flogging Molly, Mahones and Dropkick Murphys. BoB pay respect to their heroes by playing one song from each of them. BoB also pick the odd song from the big book of traditional folk songs, though oftentimes not without spicing things. But foremost, BoB add their self-penned stuff to the ever expanding catalogue of songs out there that can be described as energetically melodic or melodically energetic.
BoB songs deal with the downsides of life − remorse, illness, death, war and the arbitrariness of it all − as well as with life’s upsides − the blessings of love, music and alcoholic beverages. Either way, as their songs point out, “the pogo never stops” and “there is many a good reason to drink many a good pint”!.

Speakeasy

An energetic, hard and hot rock'n ' roll band like you've never seen before.
These 4 young dogs use the ancient formula and give a modern twist to rock'n ' roll.
Tom (vocals), Wessel (guitar), Jan (Drums) and Julien (bass) met during jam sessions at each others family pubs in the Hague. They are heavily influenced by ACDC, Aerosmith, Whitesnake and Elvis Presley.
Affected, but these are so cocky that they have these bands mixed and there their own twist on.
After a lot of experimenting with sound and performance, SpeakEasy has a live show now that stands out. This has been proven by their winnings of the main prizes of the metropolis festival Rotterdam and the Hague Talent Event.
After a successful festival season in 2018 (Liberation festival the Hague, quay rock, Schollenpop, the farm, the rhino etc) the band is ready for upcoming releases in 2019.
