Most of the members of Shaking Patsy go back a long way. Ever since high school, they’ve played in various formations. Now, the four-piece can still be seen on stages in and around Amsterdam.
The repertoire consists of pop and rock covers. The band focuses on recognizable songs, by artists like Bryan Adams, Muse, The Cranberries, Skunk Anansie, AC/DC, Oasis, The Killers and much more. Moreover, Shaking Patsy is constantly working on their own original songs. Lead singer Jolijn and her three loyal companions are as motivated as ever to let venues and audiences in and around Amsterdam be part of their uplifting vibe. Guaranteed to make you dance!
Shaun O'Reilly might be familiar to progressive rock music fans as a half of “War Elephant”, a pair of musicians who recorded challenging, creative music and toured the UK and Ireland extensively. However, Shaun’s fondness for blues, folk and Americana led him to jump on the opportunity to pursue a solo career and express his passion for roots music and contemporary singer-songwriting. Shaun's vivid blend of storytelling echoes the work of beat authors such as Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs and more modern authors such as Irvine Welsh. His words are poignant and poetic, yet down to earth and extremely easy to relate to. His recent EP, “Vultures & Wine” is a bittersweet collection of tunes that blur the lines between the melancholic mellowness of Elliott Smith and the blues bark of artists like Captain Beefheart.
After fronting the band Seven Handle Circus for several years, being featured on Conan, People, Paste & GuitarWorld, climbing the Americana Radio Charts, and supporting bands Mumford and Sons, Better than Ezra, and Zack Brown Band, Shawn Spencer ventures into alternative rock, with his new project.
"7HC was a beautiful thing that just kind of happened... we were a bunch of guys who started jamming and ended up with what was quickly becoming a very successful touring career. But in the end it was more than some had bargained for and they wanted to settle down. Me... I'm just not prepared to settle".
The first move was hitting the studio and making a record with producer Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum selling producer Billy Hume (Ludacris, Ying-Yang Twins, Infamous Stringdusters).
With Spencer's knack for big choruses with powerful lyrics and Hume's history of hard-hitting mixes, the album, entitled Empty Seas, comes out edgy but with that sing-ability that pop music craves.
This band performs Black Sabbath with the same attitude as in the 70 's. It doesn't have to be smooth and perfect. It may be a bit crackling, as long as it rocks and breathes the same atmosphere as the music had back then. Their sounds and performance are appreciated, underlined by reaching the region final of the clash of the cover bands november 2015.
Sick Sabbath originated in 2014 when Piet formed the group in the remains of his previous coverband. An idea he has hadmuch longer, but now by the right musicians presented themselves: A singer from with melodic rock-metal-roots, a seasoned bassplayer and an old rocker on guitar. All in all, quite a few years experience in rock music. After a few practice sessions the young and ambitious drummer Alex was added.
As the name will suggest, Sick Sabbath performs covers of Black Sabbath as a tribute to their heroes. Not only the music of the first LP's of these founding fathers of heavy metal, but also songs like "Loner" and "God is dead", from the last album where Ozzy sang again. Classics such as "Iron Man", "War Pigs", "Black Sabbath", "Children of the Grave" (called anyone "Paranoid"?) will certainly be part of the setlist. But what about the forgotten gems as "N.I.B.", "Fairies wear boots", "The Wizard", "Hand of Doom" and "Never say die"?
On top of it all, Sick Sabbath's own Hozzy is a special appearance you won't soon forget.

In the past 14 years, the coverband SliQ has developed into a band of high quality, specialized in honest and recognizable pop and rock music of the 90's until today.
